Alright, Emily, thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, do you think you chose the right career path? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?
I have been working as a professional chef for over 12 years, and I believe the timing of my career was perfect. Launching my culinary journey allowed me to explore my passion for creating unique dining experiences. The lessons I’ve learned along the way have been invaluable in shaping my perspective and skills.
Emily, before we dive into more of these questions, could you share more about your background and what you do?
My passion for cooking started in my grandmother’s kitchen, where I learned the art of blending flavors and creating memorable meals. After completing culinary school, I worked in various restaurants, honing my skills in fine dining. In 2018, I opened my own restaurant, where I focus on farm-to-table cuisine and supporting local farmers.

What’s worked well for you in terms of growing your business?
Building strong relationships with local suppliers and engaging with my community have been instrumental. Hosting cooking workshops and participating in food festivals have also helped me connect with a wider audience and showcase my culinary vision.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During the early days of my restaurant, there was a significant challenge in sourcing quality ingredients due to supply chain issues. By building a network of reliable local farmers and adjusting my menu to focus on seasonal produce, I turned the challenge into an opportunity. This not only ensured the quality of my dishes but also strengthened my commitment to sustainability.
